Cattle Feeding Guide

The Kent PNP® Precision Plus Cattle Feeding Guide is revolutionizing the beef industry. This new system is largely responsible for the great strides made in the efficiency of beef production in the last decade. In addition to PNP (Protected Natural Protein), this system utilizes the principals of net energy and precision feeding.

Precision
refers to supplying specific types of homegrown feedstuffs with the proper supplements to balance the levels of minerals, trace minerals and vitamins, and to provide the specific level of supplement required to obtain the desired rates of gain of cattle.

Net Energy
refers to the most accurate measure of energy in feedstuffs today. It is the measure of total energy available to the animal for maintenance and production.
The proper use of these two concepts allows prediction of rate of gain and accurate balancing of beef cattle rations for energy and protein to give the most economical gains. The rations outlined in this handbook are based on these new innovations.

Starting Cattle
The proper starting of shipped-in cattle can mean the difference between a profit or a loss from cattle feeding. Shipped-in cattle are commonly deficient in the following nutrients:

Protein Zinc
Energy Cobalt
Calcium Vitamin A
Phosphorus Vitamin D
Potassium Vitamin E
Magnesium B Vitamins
Salt Unidentified Growth Factors

If one of the above is lacking, disease resistance is lowered. Thus, it is important that these nutrients be supplied to incoming cattle in generous and balanced amounts.

Feeding Kent’s Rebound® Starting Feeds supplies an adequate amount of the commonly lacking nutrients to make up for any deficiency that might exist. Also, the use of a high level of medication aids in the maintenance of weight gains and in the prevention of secondary infections.

The product of choice here is Terramycin®. All four of the Kent Rebound feeds contain Terramycin®.
